The Macau Artistes Association composed of young people from the Macau culture and arts organized a fund-raising event for the victims of super typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in the Philippines which was held at the Senado Square (Macau’s Luneta Park) last Friday, 22 November 2013, from 8:00 until 10:00 in the evening. The TDM Portuguese television channel of Macau was co-organizer of the charity show. The supporting organizations were: Sun-City Group; Chessman Production; Chesskit Design; Easy Music; Akasaka Café; Peony Wedding Dresses and Planning Ltd.; Inspirational Youth Association (IYA) Macau; Sacred Heart Canossian College (English Section); Social Work Club; Power Star Lighting and Audio Equipment; Bosco Youth Service Network; The Macau Institution of Engineers; and Ritz Entertainment Production Co. Ltd. The supporting media were: Good.com; Soda; and Exmoo News. The Macau Artistes Association is led by its Secretary-Director Carmen Wong.
 
The popular entertainers of Macau performed during the event, particularly young singers as well as local Filipino talents. The performers were: Siufay, Vivian Chan, Rico Long, Kevin Cheng, Pou Pun, Ken Sou, Kyla Ma, Ken Aoleong, Kayaku Sou, Avaly Chan, Hyper Lo, Scamper, L.A.V.Y., Alpeo Iong, Vanus Ng, Kenny Chan, Adelino da Silva, Angel Fong, Caren Chan, Rony Chan, The Bridge, Onie Rosa, Onie Salta, and Herbert Bartolome. The Head of World Vision Macau, Ms. Amelia Che, who had just arrived from the Philippines to survey the extent of the super typhoon destruction, recounted her experiences while in the Central Philippines provinces. Consul General Danilo T. Ibayan was invited to speak on behalf of the Philippine Consulate General and the Filipino community in Macau. All the personnel of the Philippine Consulate General in Macau attended the occasion. One of the highlights of the show was the presentation to Consul General Ibayan by the officials of the Macau Artistes Association of a large transparent plastic box containing “Pray for the Philippines” best wishes little notes in many shapes and sizes from the Macau public and friends of the Philippines in Macau.
 
The fund-raising show collected a total donation of 208,000 Macau patacas (approximately USD 26,000) which will be turned over to World Vision Macau for use in its relief efforts in the areas in the Philippines affected by typhoon Yolanda. 25 November 2013, Macau SAR
